Thunder God Tiermes is a pre-Christian nature deity, known as a force of weather and wellbeing. People believed Tiermes could bring rain, protect reindeer, and break the spell of the evil eye.

The Sami drum is a beautiful and mysterious instrument with a rich history. Finnish shamans used drums in their healing work and while journeying to the spirit world to seek guidance from their ancestors.

The shamanic drums we create draw inspiration from various cultures in both appearance and crafting methods. A Sami drum makes an excellent keepsake due to its portable size, and its beautiful sound brings wonderful memories of Lapland.

This unique, handcrafted Sami drum is wonderfully versatile – perfect for playing, meditation, healing work, or simply as a beautiful presence in your space. Each high-quality drum is lovingly made in our Lapland workshop. The product is 100% Finnish handicraft.

The drum body is bent from double birch plywood, protected with translucent black wood wax. The handle is attached to the back with natural cords.

The drum skin is Finnish reindeer hide, dyed brown at the edges, with the symbol screen-printed on its surface. Each drum is unique, so yours may look slightly different from the one pictured.

Your drum arrives in a beautiful gift box with the beater included in the price.

Care and storage
The shamanic drum is quite carefree if you remember a few basics:
– Nourish it a few times a year with a leather care product – Store it on a wall mount if possible.
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat pumps, hot cars, and other conditions where the drum skin
might dry out too much. If the skin becomes too dry, it risks over-tightening and tearing

Tuning
The drum “breathes” with the humidity – the skin loosens in moist air and tightens in dry air.
Humidity affects your drum’s voice. If your drum skin feels loose, warm it gently in sunshine, by a
campfire, or with a hairdryer.

If the skin is too tight, wipe it with a damp cloth or mist it lightly with a spray bottle. The skin won’t respond immediately, so be patient and wait a few minutes.

Delivery time
Once we’ve received your order, it will leave from our warehouse within one to three business days.
Shipping time depends on the destination.

Right of return
All products have a standard 14-day return period. If you decide not to keep the drum, contact us
and we’ll arrange the return.

The Healing Gift of the Shamanic Drum
The sound of the shamanic drum resonates at the cellular level, helping the body relax. A 2014 study
examined a group who drummed for 40 minutes, measuring blood pressure, blood lactate levels,
stress and anxiety levels, and pulse before and after. All stress and anxiety markers decreased, and
systolic blood pressure dropped in older participants.

Rumpu Ukko

Unexpectedly a “woman” is running the reins of Rumpu-ukko, Sari Autere.

Sari became a drum maker almost by accident, as there are no craftsmen, musicians or shamans in the family.

Sari got her first contact with shaman drums at spiritual retreats, when the drum took her to other spheres. The drum’s power – its energy, calming effect and mysticism – stayed in her mind. Years later, together with her then spouse Rumpu-ukko was founded and shaman drums began to be created.

Sari feels she is above all a craftsperson, even though shamanism and various forms of spirituality are familiar to her.
